An unusual collection of thirteen Southern and Confederate currency notes and fare tickets, together with four war-dated checks. Of varying size and denomination, dating from 1861 to 1873. The bills included are from Georgia, South Carolina, and the Confederate States of America and are signed by various treasurers. The four checks were made out and signed by Edward P. Smith of Nashville and all date from 1864. Varying degrees of toning, soiling, and chipping at the edges with some paper loss. Some with flattened folds or creasing. All with bold signatures.

Includes:
1. $50 Note from The State of Georgia. No. 2199, dated February 2, 1863. The note depicts the Georgia dome at the left and has the Georgia seal affixed on the back.
2. Four $5.00 Fare Ticket from the South Carolina Railroad Company. Nos. 1413, 1615, 3270, and 1444. All dated July 1, 1873. Good for the fare of one passenger, one hundred and twenty five miles. Engraved with a steam engine and coal car.
3. Four $1.00 Fare Ticket from the South Carolina Railroad Company. Nos. 16956, 29547, 37924, and 40672. All dated July 1, 1873. Good for the fare of one passenger, twenty five miles. With a train at the left and the allegorical figure of Hope at the right.
4. Two $50 Confederate States of America Bank Notes. Nos . 81268 and 88665, dated February 17, 1864. With a portrait of Jeff Davis at the center.
5. 10-Cent State of South Carolina Note. Unnumbered, dated February 1, 1863. With a palm tree at the center.
6. 50-Cent State of South Carolina Note. Unnumbered, dated February 1, 1863. With a palm tree at the center.
7. Four Checks signed by Edward P. Smith. Dated August 3, August 31, October 24, and November 16, 1864. With payments of $763.45 made out to Hughes & Parkhill and $500 made out to J. Correy, Cashier.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house world-wide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses that proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with a signature required option, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third-Party Shipping Option: If a third-party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers. For your protection, we will require a signed release from you, confirming your authorization for us to release your lots to your specified third-party. At that point, our responsibility and insurance coverage for your item(s) ceases. Items picked up by third-party shippers are required to pay Connecticut sales tax. Items requiring third-party shipping due to being oversized, fragile or bulky will be denoted in the item description.
