Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown signed photo

8" x 10" black and white glossy promotional photo of Louisiana-born blues musician Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown signed by him as "Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown" in black sharpie marker in bottom border. In near fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of the JSA Letter of Authenticity.

This photo, taken by celebrity photographer James Minchin III for promotion by Verve, shows the iconic blues, rock n' roll, jazz, and country musician in a cowboy ensemble of black leather. Brown, mysterious and gritty behind a cowboy hat and sunglasses, casually grasps an electric guitar; his discarded pipe is on the scuffed music stand to his right.

Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown (1924-2005) was a singer  nicknamed for his bold voice. He also played the fiddle, mandolin, viola, guitar, drums, and harmonica. In the 1970s, Brown traveled through Europe and the Soviet Union, effectively serving as an American musical ambassador, and he reprised his travels in the late 1990s by touring four continents. He won a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album in 1983 for Alright Again!
