Mickey Mantle signs his necktie!

Men's hand-sewn silk necktie inscribed and signed by New York Yankee baseball player Mickey Mantle as "To Mary, Best Wishes, Mickey Mantle" in purple pen approximately 6" up from the tip of the tie. The 54" long tie, with alternating diagonal beige, gray, light blue, and red stripes, has a label from "Schultz, Atlantic City, N.J."  located verso near the tie tip. In very good to near fine condition, with isolated minor discolored spots. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

Mantle dedicated his tie to an unknown woman named Mary. The tie was probably owned by Mantle. Although Mantle had a wife (Merlyn Johnson (1932-2009)) and four sons, he was a notorious womanizer who had many extramarital affairs. Was this autographed tie a prelude to, or a farewell token of, one such conquest?

Mickey Mantle (1931-1995) served as 1st baseman and center fielder for the New York Yankees between 1951-1968. Mantle was lauded not only for his batting accuracy, but also for his record-breaking batting distances. The slugger was a multiple times MVP, All-Star, World Series champion, batting champion, and home run leader. He was induced into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.

A handsome memento from man-about-town "The Mick"!
