Max Baer

Huge poster-size photograph signed and inscribed by Max Baer predicting his victory over Primo Carnera for the World Heavyweight Championship ten days later.

Photographic poster signed and inscribed, "To /'Calgary Red' / Bet on me to knockout / Primo Carnera for the Title. / I am in shape this time/ Good luck on your car business, / you’ll be number one for / General Motors some day. / Your old pal / Max Baer 6-4-34.” No place. Enlarged brown-tone photographic print on matte stock, measuring 38 by 48 inches. Signature bold, a few words retouched, light wear to extremities and a few nail holes around perimeter of poster. Very good condition.

Championship Canadian rodeo rider Robert “Larry” Cameron, known in his riding days as “Calgary Red" was a close friend of Baer's. Cameron owned a General Motors car dealership in Sacramento, California. As promised, Baer soundly defeated Primo Carnera just ten days after this poster was inscribed. At the match, Carnera hit the mat 11 times and Baer walked away Heavyweight Champion of the World.

An extraordinary and desirable piece of boxing memorabilia.
