Leroy Neiman Original Signed Three Panel Femlin Set in Final State, "Cat Devours Femlin"

Leroy Neiman Original Signed Three Panel Femlin Set in Final State, "Cat Devours Femlin"

A stunning scarce Set of Three "Final State" Original Pieces, titled “CAT DEVOURS FEMLIN,” with the last panel signed in full by Leroy Neiman lower left as "Leroy Neiman."  Each rendered in Ink and Gouache on Light Card Stock-Paper.

The three pieces, unpublished in Playboy Magazine, are all in their FINAL state from the series. Rendered in ink and gouache, the art is absolutely stunning. Titled “Cat Devours Femlin,” the first two paintings depict Neiman’s Femlin character taunting the Cat, who begins to show increasing irritation by the second drawing in the set. By the last painting, the "Zen-like" cat has contently devoured Femlin and no longer is being harassed. Neiman’s humor at his best!  Note that most original Femlin panels are sold as a single individual panel, or as a set of two panels, with each individual panel selling upwards of $5,000 per panel. This storyboard is a very scarce set of three panels!  Condition: The art is in excellent condition with some small areas of light toning/staining to outer edges of the panels. Framed to dimensions of 36" tall x 20" wide.

The Studies for the set of three was catalogued in Franklin Bowles Galleries “Femlin 1957-2007,” page 40. Each panel measures approximately 12″ x 9.5″ (unframed), and the set of three is 36″ x 20″ (framed). The piece is presented in a brand new black frame “storyboard style” which fully showcases the artwork. Framed using all archival materials and UV plexiglass to fully protect and showcase the original artwork. A stunning presentation of one of Neimans’s most iconic images.

PROVENANCE: Ex Franklin Bowles as described in their catalogue noted above. The framed set of three panels will come with a COA from Tony Pernicone, the country’s leading expert in Leroy Neiman artwork, Accredited Senior Appraiser, and member of the American Society of Appraisers and Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers. Mr. Pernicone is the leading resource for all premier galleries regarding Neiman’s works, including for the Leroy Neiman Foundation.
