Rare ALS as Reagan’s Vice President after the Bushes were “spaced out by the ‘lag’” as they flew cross-country after the birth of a new grandson

Autograph Letter Signed, “George”, as Vice President on both sides of his blue-bordered Vice Presidential note card, 6.25” x 4.25”, with circular VP seal engraved in blue and gold in upper left. [Washington, D.C., March 17, 1986. Fine condition.

On Saturday, March 15, 1986, Vice President and Mrs. George Bush became grandparents again when Pierce Mallon Bush was born to their son Neil and his wife Sharon in Denver, Colorado. After visiting their new grandson, the Bushes flew to the Young affair, “spaced out” by the time lag. 

Republican Charles William (Bill) Young (1930-2013) represented Florida in the House of Representatives from 1971 until his death in 2013. At his death, he was the longest serving Republican in Congress. Young was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions which nominated Nixon in 1968 and 1972, Ford in 1976, and Reagan in 1984. He served as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee during the last two years of the Clinton presidency and G.W. Bush’s first term as President, 1999-2005.
