Alured Clarke

British General Alured Clarke certifies "the Clothing of the Army... [has] been Viewed and found agreeable to His Majesty's Instructions."

Manuscript Document Signed, "Alured Clarke : Genl.,"1pp.,8.25" x 13", “Horse Guards” 9th March 1810, certifying that “We the General Officer appointed to Inspect and Regulate the Clothing of the Army Do hereby Certify that the Clothing for the 2d Battalion of the 78th Regiment of Foot; commanded by Lieut. General A. M. Fraser having been Viewed and found agreeable to His Majesty’s Instructions…” The 78th saw action in the Sicilian Campaign of 1806 and in the Alexandria expedition of 1807. Document is tipped at left edge to an 8.5" x 13.5" blank page. Also signed, "Peter Craig. Genl.," and "Harry Burrard LGenl." Fine condition.

Sir Harry Burrard, (1755 - 1813) British officer in the American Revolution. General in the Wars of the French Revolution and in the Napoleonic Wars until he was retired from active duty.
