We are very excited to be exhibiting at the Olympia Book Fair in London, May 24 – 26, 2012.  In an increasingly global marketplace, London appears to be a perfect site to reconnect with our many clients and vendors, and to make new international connections.

With the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Summer Olympics beginning in June, London is especially exciting this year.  Larger crowds are expected at the Book Fair this year, because so many people from around the world have made London their travel destination. With this in mind, John Reznikoff and our staff will be displaying various material – rare books, journals, signed letters, manuscripts, documents, photographs, and more.

The linkage between the United States and England has always been an exceptionally strong one.  An upcoming movie, whose first trailer has just been released, “Hyde Park on Hudson” details the summer of 1939, when Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor host the King and Queen of England (King George VI of The King’s Speech fame). This weekend meeting, where the Royals were looking for the support of the U.S. in the war with Germany, was held at FDR’s country home in Hyde Park, New York, and is told from the perspective of Margaret Suckley, a close friend of the President’s. It was the first time a reigning English monarch had visited America.  The movie, starring Bill Murray as FDR and Samuel West as King George VI, is yet another sign that the fascination with long, complex relationship between America and England continues to make for a terrific tale.
