Each Spring, University Archives looks forward to the annual New York Antiquarian Book Fair. This year, the fair is being held April 12 – 15, 2012, at the Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Avenue, in New York City.
This year’s show promises to be especially exciting, with a record number of dealers exhibiting rare books, illuminated manuscripts, maps, finely bound volumes, and our special area of expertise, autographs. We will be in Booth E-20, and John Reznikoff and the entire staff will be happy to show you the various material we are exhibiting – signed letters, documents, photographs and more.
In February, while at the California Book Fair, we were so pleased with the new venue, the Pasadena Convention Center. Even more thrilling was the composition of the people attending the show! There were many young people there, and lots of parents with strollers, introducing a whole new generation to the fun and excitement of rare books and autographs. And of course, new, young enthusiasts are a good thing for any industry.
With the increased viewership of reality TV shows such as American Pickers, Pawn Stars, Antiques Roadshow and others, it seems that more and more people are getting bitten by the historical collectibles bug. It feels as though a fresh energy has infused the market, as more and more people explore the fascinating world of notable autograph material.
We hope you’re able to visit us at the New York Book Fair. If a visit is not possible for you, we encourage you to visit the home page of our website, and take a look at our latest acquisitions. We hope you’ll consider taking a bit of history home with you!
